‘Te Ariki Vaine’ dance team strives to fuse Pacific movement with a modern level of professional entertainment that appeals to audiences across cultures. Based in Auckland, the team’s members are all professional dancers from a range of cultural backgrounds and traditional dance training. Cook Islands dance is the main influence of this group, Tahitian, Samoan and Tongan movements are also fused in some dances to demonstrate the creativity of Polynesian movement.

The team employs experienced choreographers, costume designers and vibrant music to create an exciting, energetic and polished show that they hope would move the spirit of their audiences to the beats of Polynesian music.

Te Ariki Vaine would love to perform at your function. The team can provide a range of shows from 10-30 min, with 4 to 9 dancers depending on your requirements therefore our shows can cater for any sized event from corporate functions, themed parties, weddings to birthday and private events.

She has been a ‘tamure’ dancer from a very young age and continued to dance since moving to Aotearoa. With her Masters degree in Medical Sciences along with her extensive Cook Islands dance experience, she has been a Science teacher and lead tutor for the Cook Islands Cultural Group at James Cook High School (Manurewa, Auckland) for the past two years. Tepaeru-Ariki has choreographed national and international touring Cook Islands groups and is a long standing member of the infamous Auckland based Cook Islands dance group, Anuanua Dance Troupe.

Available for private lessons to both adult and youth. Also available to do solo and group performances of Cook Islands dance.

We are a specialized group that does Pacific Island and Multicultural
performances, both traditional and contemporary. We have now been around
for over a year as FOBBAWOCKEEZ SIVA CREW and Our name arises from the term
"FOBS" (fresh off the boat) which means we represent all POLYNESIAN
NATIONS. This reflects the heart of our Siva Crew, in that we incorporate
all forms of of Pacific Island dance - Tongan, Fijian, Samoan, etc. We love
the uniqueness of our Pacific Island Heritage throughout our Crew and we
embrace and express that part of Cultures through Island Dance. We are a
young and energetic group of entertainers and performers, consisting
between 5-8 members. We do tailor-made performances for weddings,
birthdays, graduations and any special occasions creating meaningful

Hopskotch was formed by Josh Mitikulena (Triple8Funk, Boyz In Growth) and Kat Walker (Triple8Funk) at the end of 2007 after they had both finished 5th in the World Hip Hop Champs that year. Hopskotch have performed and contributed a great deal in the Aotearoa hip hop dance scene. They have performed at benefit concerts & fundraisers, running their own primary and intermediate school tours, competing in major hip hop competitions, taking workshops and even running their own hip hop dance events and jams (e.g. Red Bull Garage Battles). With their passionate creativity, original style and unique flavour, the crew have continued to push the boundaries in the hip hop dance aesthetic while trying to maintain the fundamentals of the dance forms they perform.

Samove is our name. Where we originate the name from is the combination of the words Samoa and Move your body .We are an all family, all boy group born and bred in the South side of Auckland. This is our first year performing in big events, as we previously mostly performed at church youth events. Our dance pieces show our Polynesian culture and how we can mix different genres of music to our Polynesian traditional dances. The main purpose of this group, like many other groups is to use dance to express not merely impress. But we Samove express our cultural background and where we come from. Our main Moto is D.T.F (not the Jersey shore quote) meaning Dance To Fellowship. 2011 is the start of Samove, and our vision for the group is to bring back 'real' cultural background in dance to our Polynesian community.

Hula Journey (previously Halau Ka Waikahe Lani Malie) brings Hawaiian hula to Auckland.

Learn Hawaiian hula at classes in the beautiful Leys Institute Hall (20 St Marys Rd  St Marys Bay) on a Monday. Halau Ka Waikahe Lani Malie (Peaceful Heavenly Flowing Waters school) is a Hawaiian school for children from 6 years up to adults. Learn the oli (chants), kahiko (ancient hula) and 'auana (modern hula) under the lineage of teachings of Blaine Kamalani Kia of the Ka Laua'e Foundation in Oahu, Hawaii. The school runs during normal school terms with private lessons offered to those who wish to dance the hula at their own private function or want to learn on their own or in small groups.

Pasifika Performing Art

The students had the opportunity to learn and practice varieties of Pasific island dances and perform them during our community multicultural festival as well as at the Christchurch secondary school polyfestival. Our students that are doing level 1, 2, 3 will have the opportunity to be assessed and get credits for their performance towards their NCEA certificate.
